Galahad

Kritiker bezeichneten die Musik Galahads einmal als „Soundtrack zu einem Live-Rollenspiel“. Und in der Tat fühlt man sich zurückversetzt in eine Zeit, die längst vergangen ist; dabei verliert die Mischung aus Mittelalter, Rock und keltischer Mystik aber dennoch nicht den Bezug zur Gegenwart.

Dieses Medieval-Rock-Crossover brachte Galahad u.a. zwei Nominierungen für den „Deutschen Rockpreis“ sowie Verträge über zahlreiche Compilation-CDs u.a. mit Sony Music und BMG ein, deren Sampler „Celtic Circle 2“ wochenlang in den Spitzen der Charts in Dänemark, Schweden und Neuseeland zu finden war und mit 2 goldenen Schallplatten ausgezeichnet wurde. Galahad wurde hierdurch mit z.B. Nightwish, Clannad, Gary Moore, Mike Oldfield, und Loreena McKennitt zu einem der „best-known artists of the genre“. Und als die Rocklegende Jethro Tull um den Superflötisten Ian Anderson in Galahad einen artverwandten Support-Act fand, kannte die Begeisterung der Fans kaum Grenzen.

Mal kraftvoll, mal sanft, aber immer ausdrucksstark begeistert Galahads Sound immer wieder aufs Neue. Das Musikmagazin „Astan“ bringt es auf den Punkt: „Galahad stehen mit ihrer Form der mittelalterlich-folkig und vom Hardrock beeinflussten Musik in dieser Einmaligkeit ziemlich einsam da in Deutschland.“

It seems to be not easy to describe Galahad´s music with only a few words.

Elements of rock, mediaeval and classical music as well as a little bit of celtic mystic create an individual style of music. This versatility is also shown by using various and different instrumentation.

A high number of events in Germany (e.g. “Newcomer of the Year” 1987, WDR / West-German-Broadcast– Folk-Award, TV-appearance) and the neighbouring foreign countries took Galahad to a plenty of indoor- and open-air-concerts and festivals (e.g. “Little Woodstock”, “Euro-Folk-Festival” and many more).

Highlights of the last years were the support-act of Jethro Tull during their German tour 1999 in Hameln, Berlin and Wurzburg, the nomination for the “German Rock Award” 2000, the producing of the “Myrddin”-album by famous German rock-producer Eroc (ex-Grobschnitt, Philip Boa, Tic Tac Toe), “CD of the Week” in Belgium Broadcast, “Celtic Queen” for many weeks as No. 1 in the internet download charts of “track4” and the appearance on several compilation-CDs (e.g. “Miroque”, “Aeterna”, “Mystica Antiqua”, “Celebrant 2003”)

In September 2003 the fifth Galahad-album “Storyteller´s Dance” was released. Rock-guitars, flute, some folky arrangemets and characteristic vocals let Galahad once more stay to their own style.

In addition to the new release “Storyteller´s Dance” Galahad appears on the BMG-compilation “Celtic Circle 2” (Do-CD with Mike Oldfield, Gary Moore, Sineád O´Connor, Laureena McKennit, The Corrs, Clannad and more …) with their track “The Leaving of Inishmore” from the “Myrddin”-album. The worldwide release was October 2003 and the album soon reached e.g. No.1 of the compilation-charts in Denmark, No.2 in Sweden and got “gold”- status in both countries.

The compilation-CD "Celtic Spirits 7" (Do-CD with Capercaillie, Clannad and more …) was released in March 2004 in cooperation with Sony Music.


The new compilation-CD "Secrect Spirits 1" (Do-CD with Vangelis, The Alan Parsons Projekt and more …) was released in September 2004 in cooperation with Sony Music.
