Smokie.J.Jones

Der Countrysänger Smokie J. Jones wurde am 10. Juli 1962 in Broome, dem Westlichen Australien geboren. Seine erste Gitarre bekam er im Alter von 10 Jahren. Bereits mit 17 Jahren trat er zusammen mit der Band “Santamaria” als Trio in Singapur auf.

Smokie arbeitete als Bassist und Sänger in einem Trio, bis er im Alter von 21 seine erste Blues und Funk Band, die “Continental Connection” gründete. Bald begann er in anderen Ländern wie Singapur, Taiwan, Malaysia und natürlich Deutschland, wo er heute lebt, zu spielen. Sein Musik-Stil variiert zwischen Pop, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Latin American and New American Country, bevorzugt die Musik solcher Musiker wie Eric Clapton, Roben Ford, Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Frank Sinatra usw. Er spielte mit erfolgreichen Bands wie “Crossfire” und “Tough”.
2004 trat er mit “Maria Glen’” auf.

Anfang 2007 traf Smokie die Entscheidung, seinen musikalischen Schwerpunkt als Solokünstler auf American Country und Southern Rock zu legen. Seine Einflüsse in der Countrymusic waren Brad Paisley, George Strait, Josh Turner, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, Chad Atkins und viele andere.

Um mehr Zeit mit seinem Sohn in Deutschland verbringen zu können, reiste er zu verschiedenen Festivals. Er trat unter anderem beim Kölner Rodeo Festival und Heide Ranch Country Festival, im Wild Horses Saloon, auf dem Gegensee Country Festival, auf der Natobasis in Belgien, auf der Broken Wheel Ranch, der Lubbock Town Ranch und vielen weiteren Country and Western Saloons in Nordrhein-Westfalen auf. Wenn ihm neben seinen Auftritten und Proben Zeit bleibt, kümmert er sich um Behinderte.

Im April 2009 nahm er mehrere Cover-Songs auf und stellte sie auf seine MySpace Seite www.myspace.com/smokiejjones.
Zukünftig möchte er weiter in Deutschland arbeiten, in den Vereinigten Staaten auftreten und seine erste CD veröffentlichen.

Contemporary country singer Smokie J. Jones was born July 10th, 1962 in Broome, Western Australia; picked up his first guitar at the age of 10, giving his first public performance in Singapore with his first band, a trio named "Santamaria", at the age of 17.

Smokie performed as a Bass player and a Lead Singer / Back up singer in a trio till the age of 21 when he formed his first Blues and Funk band called "Continental Connection".
He soon began to play other countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and Germany where he now lives. His music style varied from Pop, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Latin American and New American Country favoring the music of such musicians as Eric Clapton, Robin Ford, Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Frank Sinatra etc.
Since then he has played with such successful bands as Crossfire and Tough Cookies. He did a short stint with Marla Glen in 2004.

At the beginning of 2007 Smokie made the decision to streamline his music with American Country and Southern Rock as a solo artist.
His influences in Country Music were Brad Paisley, George Strait, Josh Turner, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, Chet Atkins and many more.
Spending time in Germany to be near his son, Smokie has been travelling the festival circuit performing for Kölner Rodeo Festival, Heide Ranch Country Festival, Wild Horses Saloon, Gegensee Country Festival, NATO Base in Belgium, Broken Wheel Ranch, Lubbock Town Ranch and many Country and Western Saloons in NRW.
When he isn’t performing or rehearsing for upcoming concerts Smokie works assisting the disabled.

In April of 2009 he recorded several cover songs and posted them on his MySpace Page, www.myspace.com/smokiejjones.
Upcoming plans are to continue working in Germany, performing in the US and publishing a CD.
