There are events that can still downright amaze an audience with sounds it has never heard before. Music from Air and Water is just such a novelty. Its performers take their audience with them on an extraordinary musical journey.

Flowing melodies from unusual wind and percussion instruments fill the room with images of far-away lands. The listener is lead into the border-zone between jazz, world and new music, into an unknown but somehow familiar soundscape.

The high point of every live concert is the Wasserstichorgel (“water-stabbing organ”), an instrument developed by performers Gert Anklam and Beata Gatscha and named after their one-of-a-kind playing technique. Tuned plastic tubes are submerged into receptacles filled with water, be it buckets, glass containers, pools or even natural bodies of water such as ponds or lakes. With the help of these “organs” the musicians conjure flute-like overtones, holding an often humorous dialogue with haunting rhythmical compositions.
