Über Barankauf:
"4 musikalische Anarchisten auf dem Weg in den Rock-Olymp" Klingt fast wie ein (verdammt buntes) Märchen: am 30.09.2005 hatte Barankauf ihr erstes Konzert - vor ca. 15 Leuten. Genau ein Jahr später, am 30.09.2006, ist die Zahl schon leicht angestiegen - auf 1000 Personen! Da kann man sich schonmal fragen wer hinter den 3 Buchstaben "BAK" steckt. Es sind keine Rock'n'Roll-Übermenschen, sondern Stefan "El Looso" Loos (Leadgitarre & Gesang), Roland "Rod" Jäger (Rhythmusgitarre), Sebastian "Sebi" Schmidt (Drums) und Tim "Timmäy" Lohrmann (Bass),4 ganz normale Schulfreunde aus Halberstadt, die es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht haben "die Musikgeschichte zu revolutionieren". Die 2004 gegründete Punkrock-Kapelle hat es nicht nur geschafft sich 2006 ins Landesfinale des Local-Heroes-Wettbewerbes zu rocken, nein, sie haben es auch geschafft sich in kürzester Zeit eine nennenswerte Fanbase zu schaffen. Sicher sind sie nicht die besten Musiker, aber eines steht außer Frage: ihre chaotisch, liebenswürdige Art macht die noch sehr junge Band einzigartig. So auch ihr Musikstil, denn der Begriff "Punkrock-Kapelle" ist für sie Weit gefächert! "Mit einer fetten Mischung aus Punkrock, Ska und Metalanleih, unterstrichen mit smoothen Reggeaparts bereiten wir nun schon seit 3 Jahren jedem Musikkritiker schlaflose Nächte" steht auf ihrer Website, und jeder der sie schon mal live gehört hat weis wovon sie sprechen. Ihr Weg wird ständig begleitet von Festnahmen, Ruhestörungen, Partys und Rausschmissen, aber das gehört für sie irgendwo dazu. Wer sie kennt könnte sich fragen ob sie nun Entertainer oder Musiker sind, auch darauf gibt es keine Antwort. "Wir versuchen nur auf der Bühne den meistmöglichen Spass zu haben, wie das beim Puplikum ankommt?? ... KEINE AHNUNG!!" Auf die Frage hin welchen Stil sie letztendlich vertreten und wie sie sich selbst beschreiben sagten sie nur: "Man nehme die Toten Hosen, die Ärzte, Wizo, einen Kasten Bier, eine zerissene Jeans und eine Prise Jamaica; werfe alles in einen Mixer und fertig!"

"4 Anarchists in the world of music on the way to the Olymp of Rock’n’Roll" – Sounds like a (very coulorful) fairy tale:
Barankauf had their first concert at the 30th September 2005 – infront of maybe 15 people. Exactly one year later, at the 30th September 2006 the number of people in the audience increased - up to 1000!
Maybe is that a reason to take a closer look on the persons behind the three letters “BAK”. No Rock’n’Roll-Perfectionists, but Stefan “El Looso” Loos (guitar & vocals), Roland “Rod” Jaeger (guitar & background-vocals), Sebastian “Sebi” Schmidt (drums) and Tim “Timmaey” Lohrmann (Bass), four quite normal schoolfriends from the quite normal german town Halberstadt, who have the simple aim of “The revolution of the history of music.”
The Punkrock-Band which was founded in 2004 didn’t just reached the final of the Local-Heroes-Bandcontest 2006, but they also won a solid Fansbase with their concerts.
Maybe they are not the best musicians, but there is no question that their chaotic but somehow charming characters make this Band just as unique as their style:
“We move somewhere between Punkrock, Ska, Metal and Reggae” is their statement and everybody who saw them on stage nows why they give every critic resons for sleepless nights for the last three years.
Their life is accompanied by partys, disturbance of peace, great concerts, arrestings and other things, but this is part of the business. The audience often askes if these four manics are more entertainers or musicians, but there is no clear answer:
“We just try to have the maximum fun on stage, but how the audience likes this? No Idea! But it can’t be that bad if you see the people dancing and singing right infront of you.”
For the question of their most important influences to their music they just say:
“Take the sound of Die Toten Hosen (german punk), the Funpunk of Die Ärzte, the energy of the Beatsteaks and the crazy ideas of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, put it together with a ripped Jeans and a crate of beer and the spirit of Jamaica, throw it into a mixer and enjoy it!”
